Glow Up Toolkit

A Glow Up is…

about feeling your best, inside and out. It's not about conforming to any standards but embracing what makes you uniquely attractive.

Everyone has heard the words “Hot Girl” or “Glow Up” Toolkit but when I was on my journey to get on my Glow Up era I was really struggling with finding meaningful tools. I was starting from a pretty dark place and was at the bare bones for caring for myself. So I went ahead and began building my own essential toolkit that has not only helped me get out of my funk but also catapulted me to a new type of life that I am so grateful for.

I went into some details about how I got started on my podcast Taking Up Space that you can find on Spotify. Go ahead and give that a listen while you start on your Glow Up Toolkit.

The Toolkit

So how do you get started on building your Glow Up era…?

Get yourself a piece of paper or take your digital device and start on blank page. You are going to answer each of the following questions that is most relevant to you. If you get stuck on a question I do want to challenge you to think “why can’t I answer this question?” Is it because you don’t have an answer? You don’t feel inspired? Don’t worry that’s totally okay. Just take a moment and think about it and then move on.

  1. What do you imagine your perfect day to look like?

  2. What does your future self look like?

  3. What hobbies does your future self have?

  4. What opportunities are you looking for? Career? Financial? Personal?

  5. What does success mean to you?

  6. What are the new habits you want to develop or establish in your life?

  7. What is your timeline for your glow up? What are you willing to commit to?

  8. How can you phrase your goal using only self-love and positive language?

  9. Why are you starting this new phase of your life?

  10. Who is on this journey with you?

  11. How do you hope to feel when you come to the end of your glow up timeframe?

  12. What is your ideal routine or schedule for the day?

  13. What ares to you struggle the most in?

  14. What medium for your vision board are you choosing?

  15. What are you most looking forward to during this journey?

Now that you have completed your list…

Go and create your vision board out of all the things that you just wrote down and want to accomplish over whatever timeframe you have chosen. Just remember when it comes to timeframes we do not want to be super strict with ourselves. Make your goals attainable. For example if you have a goal of eventually being a 5 AM gym person, but you currently don’t wake up till 8:00 AM then you are going to have to start small in waking up 15 minutes earlier and going to bed earlier. So you need to start setting up routines around your morning and evening so that you are prepared to get up and go to the gym or workout at home.

Creating Routine & Staying Consistent

Now that your vision board is complete you are going to want to start doing an overview of your day to day routines and see what can be changed. For example if you are trying to start a morning routine that emcompasses working out, showering, eating breakfast and getting ready - then think how much time do I need for these tasks? Where can I automate some of them and what can I cut out?

As an example this is my morning routine: (times are very flexible)

Now this is what works for my life. I currently work for myself and so I am able to have this flexibility. I also like to have my morning times for myself. So I schedule an hour to do my morning skincare, watch social media, stretch and meditate. This flexibility is a privilege that I am very thankful for, and I will talk later about leaving my corporate life for a brief period.

The last bit I want to touch on is starting small so that you don’t overwhelm yourself with all of the changes. Set yourself up for success. So if we go back to the example of becoming a morning gym person you need to start with creating a good morning and night routine so that you can prepare yourself for that morning workout. Is that preparing your gym clothes the night before? Is that setting your alarm earlier? Is that going to bed earlier? Setting yourself up for success allows you to feel more motivated and actualize on your goals.

So to wrap up remember to start your Glow Up list from a place of being open and ready to accept this new change for yourself. Create a list of all the things that you want to accomplish within your Glow Up and create a timeline around when you would like to have your Glow Up period start and end. Then start on your goals, but set yourself up for success. Don’t go out and buy a bunch of new things no matter what social media tells you - you do not need those hot new leggings that are trending. Remember, the "Hot Girl Starter Kit" is about feeling your best, inside and out. It's not about conforming to any standards but embracing what makes you uniquely attractive. So, go ahead, rock your style, own your confidence, and let your light shine!
