Journal Prompts for Discovering Passion

Write out a list of everything you believe you are passionate about and what your hobbies are. There are no rules for this list; it does not need to be organized or neat and tidy.

What activities do you look forward to doing every day?

  • Which hobbies make you lose track of time because you're so immersed in them?

  • What do you enjoy doing in your free time, even if no one is watching?

  • Are there any interests or hobbies you've wanted to try but haven't yet? Why?

  • Think back to your childhood. What activities did you love doing back then?

  • What topics do you enjoy learning about or discussing with others?

  • Which of your hobbies bring you a sense of accomplishment or joy?

  • If you had an entire day to yourself with no obligations, how would you spend it?

Identify Core Passion

Ask yourself, what from that list, if you were to take it away, would you miss with your heart, not just your hands? Identify 2 to 3 things that you are passionate about.

Passion Reflection

My passions are [blank, blank, and blank]. How does this show up for me in my personal life? How does this show up for me in my professional life?

Exploring Personal Values

  • What values are most important to you and why?

  • How do these values influence your daily decisions and actions?

  • Reflect on a time when you felt truly aligned with your core values. What were you doing, and how did it feel?

Visualizing the Future

  • Where do you see yourself in five years, both personally and professionally?

  • What steps can you take now to move closer to that vision?

  • What obstacles might you face, and how can you overcome them?

Discover Core Beliefs

Reflect on these questions to uncover your core beliefs:

  1. What values are most important to me?

  2. How do I define success?

  3. What motivates me in difficult times?

  4. How do I want to be remembered by others?

  5. What issues or causes am I deeply passionate about?

Overcoming Barriers

Identify your self-doubt triggers: Are they situations, people, or thoughts?

  • Practice self-compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, and acknowledge your mistakes.

  • Write out your areas of strength and accomplishments to refocus when self-doubt creeps in.

  • Take small steps toward your goals instead of overthinking. Embrace the learning process and view setbacks as opportunities for growth.
